Upcycling: Upcycling Plastic Jars

ImageUp until now I have stayed away from upcycling plastic jars, simply because I feel glass holds and keeps things fresher and better. However, there are things like creams that can really use a plastic jar. I made this tummy butter that is supposedly very good for stretch marks as well as very moisturizing. I got the recipe from a tv show. I also managed to get shea butter unprocessed from a store here in NY. I needed the shea butter for the tummy butter. To make a long story short. I reused plastic jars that had previously held creams. Here they are. Enjoy

Upcycling: Love, Peace and War Paper Doll

ImageImageI have always been inspired by all kinds of art and religions. I decided to create a doll with three arms and each set of arms she is holding something that is symbolic. I h her or lower set of arms she is holding pink flowers for love, and in the second she is holding the peace sign. The third she is holding a sword, maybe to be able to defend love and peace. The flowers are made out of plastic bag, the peace sign is made out of a soda tab and in the middle I took a piece of cardboard and cut it into the sign peace. I painted the cardboard with a black marker. The sword is made out of a piece of aluminum strip I found. Her dress is made out of gift wrap.Enjoy

Upcycling: Upcycled Decoupage Shoe Box

ImageI decided that I wanted to upcycle a box. I chose this shoe box because it was steady and I felt it could take several coats of paint without falling apart. After I painted I glued three pictures I had cut out from incense packages. They are of lovers embracing. I glued it on and gave it a few days to stick. I then shellacked the box about three times giving at least a day in between each of the  coats. Enjoy

Upcycling: Upcycled Paper Tulips

ImageImageI’m back. Nothing like getting your car inspected in New York City, getting new brakes, and an axle to throw your llfe into a spin of activity. The following are tulips made after painting paper bags with yellow paint. Using bamboo sticks for the stem and kite string to keep them together. I also used one smaller vase and put water in a bigger one to give it an illlusion that they are in water. Enjoy

Upcycling: A mixture of materials bouquet

ImageImageImageImageI was kind of tired of just using plastic bags and paper for my flowers. I decided to try one different material. The white flower is made out of two dryer sheets. I tied the two dryer sheets after I had used them in the dryer around a bamboo stick and tied it at the bottom with kite string and then tied the base again with a piece of white ribbon and there it is. The pink flower is a plastic bag but the blue center is made out of one of those little plastic card holders. I followed the same routine, and I got the pink on the outside and the blue in the center. The last flower is a small tiger print like paper bag. I said why not I do have this very small bag. Enjoy
