Upcycling: The art of Upcycling for Three King’s Day

MaytinaNation Paper Dolls

This year and for the past few years I have not put up a Christmas tree. Mostly it has been a matter of having disposed of my old tree along with all its ornaments and never really getting a new one. Also moving makes it kind overwhelming and space is really tight. But, that is not to say that I’m not thinking about feeling appreciative and just looking at the things I do have and not the ones I do not have in these really hard times. One tradition my daughter and I have tried to keep alive is Three King’s Day, the day the three kings present baby Jesus with gifts. This year since I didn’t have a tree I did what I have seen being done with a tree brach. I painted it white. I place both rocks and stone inside a rectangular vase, and I had the…

Upcycling: The Bride and the Bouquet Paper Doll

MaytinaNation Paper Dolls

ImageImageImageFirst I like to thank everyone who has taken the time to comment on how you liked some of the upcycled items. I have had a bit of drama with my old laptop. I think I will need to break down and get a new one. It has only been 8 years since I last bought one.

Well, so much for that in the meantime I have kept busy with new projects that I will be posting. This one is of a bride. Her dress is made out of left…

Upcycling: The Golden Queen and her subjects Paper Dolls

MaytinaNation Paper Dolls

ImageImageI had this packing from a yogurt maker and I said that kind of looks like a mountain, where those statues should go. I then went on to make this gold queen paper doll and cut outs of both boys and girls, painted them and glued them around to make it look like a queen’s subject. The queen’s crown is really just the shape with lines drawn with a permanent marker and a dot in the middle. Enjoy

Upcycling: Double Happiness Vase

MaytinaNation Paper Dolls

Picture 245This vase is actually one of those cups you get in a restaurant of a tourist attraction. I decided to spray painted black and traced the double happiness sign from a chineese book and spray paint the sign. I then glued it on. I think I came as close as I could to the detail as I could. Enjoy
